Hey guys I'm reinstalling the Nikon on my Remington 660 instead of my 30.06 and have'nt shot .308 for a long time . Most shots will be from 50- 300 yards . Would like to stick to factory ammo ... as trucking to my cousins 65 miles away for custom loads which he does .... is'nt practical anymore with gas at over $4.00 a gallon . What do you suggest for the best flat trajectory and descent knockdown power ? It's a carbine length barrel ... 22" .  There must have been bucu changes in ammo since I last used it . There are 100's of statistic charts  but experience is what I'm looking for . .308 = 22" barrel  I know barrel length has alot to do with outcome also . Whacko

Mine .308 Savage 10 FP likes the Ga. Arms ammo, I'm glad of this too, because I can't find factory ammo any cheaper.

Winchester XP3 is a pretty good ammo as is the Remington Core Lokt. Core Lokt would be cheaper than the XP3's too, and might shoot well.

The 168gr. stuff??
My 12 twist .308 flat didn't like it.
I had a 1", 3 shot group @ 100 yards......Shocked

Without knowing the twist on that rifle, I'd probably try the Federal Gold Medal 168gr Match stuff. Black Hills is supposed to be good too.

No bro, it's the 150 grain. They are shooting at .5 inch @ 100 yrds.

It is hard to say.  The best thing to do is pick up several boxes of ammo of similar size bullet weight, preferable of the size that you will use hunting, sight your scope in with one and then see which one shoots the best.  If none shot to what you think is adequate and with that rifle, 1 and one half inch groups at 100 yards with factory ammo realistically would not be bad but 1 inch or less might be obtained, then go buy some other brands.  When you have found the best, re-sight your rifle with it and stick with it.  Remember, if you change loads in the same brand does not mean it will necessarily shot as accurately.

Take a look at the Winchester Supreme black box 168 grain combined technologies load.

It's equivilent to 46 grains varget in a ww case, runs fast and runs 36 moa to 1000 yards with sub moa accuracy from every bolt rifle I've shot it in.

If I could only shoot factory 308 this would be the choice.

It should perform very well in the 22 inch tube.

Thanks guys ... will try the ammo you suggested first cyborg ! Did'nt want to buy 8 -10 different boxes ... it's not going to be used for match ... but wanted to trim down the choice . Plus thanks Mike .... will grab a box of those also .  See that trims her down to 3 ... already ahead on dollars !!!    Thunbs%20Up  For what I'll be using it for There's no need for custom loads .... yet ...
