I hope this is the correct place fo this post. If not, sorry! I'm in need of a NV rifle scope. Nothing illegal, just to shoot coyotes. I was told on another forum that Gen 1 is crap. I do not know. Which would be the best option? I could swing 1500 bucks for now. Would have to save for more!

Keep saving, right now most of the good stuff and a lot of not to bad stuff is going to the middle east.  The gen 1 stuff is crap.  Will work for what you are doing?  If you are willing to use it "single shot" until it recovers then it may work for you. A "can" will help.  You will not get the greatest distance or resolution.

Anything decent starts at the upper $3000. range. I have the gen 3+ autogated Night Optics 4x D-740 and it's awesome............

You'd be better off with a high quality bright scope such as a Trijicon Accupoint 2.5-10x56 and a rifle mounted light than you would be with a lower end NV scope.

Ok, I save 3500 + Bucks. What are the best options? Looking at shooting 200 yds.

Bill already gave you the best options.  You either bite the bullet and go with something like the gen 3+ autogated Night Optics 4x D-740  or you use a light like a surefire or streamlight and a scope like the Trijicon Accupoint 2.5-10x56. which will be about a thousand by the time you get it all set up.

http://www.wilsoncombat.com/h_hog2.asp  this is the light set up he is talking about and I would probably mount a rechargable streamlight

I got one in to try and it broke the first time I tried to use it. When I could get it to stay on (which was tough) I played with it on my range on a totally dark night. I'd say it's good for shoulder shots out to 100yds and precision shots like I prefer to 60yds or so. I keep getting told that it doesn't spook game, if this is true and I can get one that's reliable it has merit. I'll give up a few yards of useful range to not have to worry about spooking game.
