It appears that my state wildlife regulators are about to approve the use of night vision scopes on high power weapons for hog control.   Feral hogs are beginning to get out of control here so year around taking and trapping will soon be permitted.  I am looking for a night vision rifle sight and night vision goggles.  My budget is limited so I won't be in the market for Gen 4 sights but I will need something that I can use for medium range use.  Are there any suggestions from the forum???

For a budget you would be well off with a Lazer Genetices ND3

Laser Genetics ND-3 Laser Designator Laser Genetics ND-3 Laser Designator
Stock # - LGND3
Black, Green Laser, w/ 1" Ring Mount Inter from 5/8" - 3/8"
$229.95
Add Laser Genetics ND-3 Laser Designator to Cart

Optional Accessory:

Several hog slayers use them on here and love them.  I just did a review of one paired with a Vortex Crossfire and loved it.  My groups at midnight in the pitch black where identical to my groups during the middle of the day.  They are awesome little devises and will get you better sight picture than a Gen1 or 2 anyday.

I have used the ATN Mars 4X-3 generation 3 night vision scope (I didn't see it on SWFA's website, so you'll have to pull it up from ATN's). This scope works perfectly for what you are looking to do, but it is fairly expensive.

I think my Trijicon 2.5-10X56 performed better and gathered more light than some of the gen II/early gen III NVG's I've used (when some ambient light is available).

Of course it would be cheaper if you just hired me to come out and shoot em for ya...Big Grin

The Night Optics or Morovision D740 is as good as it gets. A D740 on an accurate 6.8 SPC AR shooting Barnes 110gr TSX bullets is hard to beat for hogs!!!!

Or you could just invite me an when I get back in Oct, I'll come do it for the sheer joy of hunting... and expending lots of rounds of high velocity, high impact ammunition...
