I was going to start out with a SS10x42 but they are out for 3 - 4 weeks.  So my other choice is one of these:

Zeiss 3-9x40 Conquest Rifle Scope

Matte
Rapid Z 600
  • 1"
  • Etched Glass
  • 2nd Plane

New Zeiss 3-9x50 Conquest Rifle Scope

  • Matte
  • Rapid Z 600
  • 1"
  • Etched Glass
  • 2nd Plane

Zeiss 3.5-10x44 Conquest Rifle Scope

  • Matte
  • Rapid Z 600
  • 1"
  • Etched Glass
  • 2nd Plane

I have a AR10T, an AR10A4C plus a Stag 4L
My usage is a little hunting and a lot of range time with the three guns, 100 - 300 yds.

The 3x9x40 weighs ~12 ounces, the other 2 scopes are ~ 16 ounces.
What are your recommendation?  should I consider Leuopold?
Thanks,
Chris

IMHO- The Zeiss 3.5x10x44 will serve you well. Leuopold is a personal choice, I myself would not. I think the glass in the ZEISS is alot BETTER to my eye anyway...

Try the smaller Conquest.  At the ranges you are shooting then a 200 or 250 yard zero will hold you, so I do not not see the need for the Z reticle. The 4a will be nice to hunt with.  You can get all sorts of knobs for the "L" brand, but you are still stuck with thier glass.

Optimus... dude, long time no troll

Hey man the Marines and Seals are gettin' S&B 'cause they can produce.  IF the "L" would ever step up to the plate on quality, then you would not see several of the companies you do now.  They however choose to follow Colt's lead on quality, thus making way for a market of both better and lower quality items at differant price points.  Zeiss is showing that even with American Labor they can produce a better quality product for less money than "L." It's a shame too.  If "L" would put less money into markting stock cars and more into quality glass, then they would not have this problem; the product would sell its self.

Yeah I read about that somewhere. Sleep
Uh...whats that got to do with the original poster and 99.9% of the rest of the shooting world??

Guess ALL the Marine 8541's are just tickeled pink and NOT experiencing any problems with their issued PM2's huh? Whistling
(Answer that last question VERY carefully.) Wink

Great point! You understand that you are wrong, and that this trying to take things down crazy rabbit trials is pointless trolling! That's great and maybe we can help you with the next steps to quite trolling next time.  Now maybe we can help people who asked the question rather than troll.

OK...no more rabbit trails.

Yes Leupold is worthy of your consideration.

Unlike the Conquest, the VX3's W/E adjustments turn the right direction and doesnt have plastic turrets and caps.
The Varmint Hunter reticle is also user friendly but I'm not sure it compares to the Zeiss Z 600.

Leupold makes two products that may interest you: The Mk 2 3x9 tactical and the 6x42 competition hunter that would need a retical change and thus be a hair over budget. These guys have knobs galor for somebody on the range all the time. Look through thier glass, for hunting and a lot of other things you will see why many like some of the other brands.

Zeiss, Nikon and IOR make an extra clear fixed 4x scope for thier respected price points. These have a good field of view and respectable eye relief.  They would fit your hunting requirements better than the other stuff.  That's why I asked on your orginal thread about more than one scope.

The Mark 2 comes in a long range duplex, but again I dont know if its accurate, or as accurate as the the Zeiss reticle.

Dale Clifford would know.
