All,
Thanks much for the help so far...
So, as of right now I have been quoted a trade in price from the nice people of $175 for my Lupo vari x ii.

It turns out that my sig other just got laid off. So, putting money into a deal is not realistic in the immediate future.

So, I have +/- @ 175 to spend. The purpose of this scope will be on an FS2000.  it will be used for punching paper out to about 300 yards, but I like the tacti-cool potential as well.

Is there anything in that price range that makes sense. Or should I just wait it out?

The 1-4x SS maybe??

It will be a challenge to get into something decent for 175.00 unless you catch something you like on the Sample list. The closest I saw listed right now is
SPL11804 SWFA SS 16x42 Riflescope DEMO-A
Click to view SS16x42, Matte finish, mil dot reticle, 30mm tube
$249.95
In a SS. But there is a Weaver Grand Slam that is closer.
SPL11994 Weaver 3-10x40 Grand Slam Riflescope DEMO-C
Click to view 800473, Matte, Duplex
$199.95
The Simmons Atec has proven its self to me for a good budget scope.
SPL11971 Simmons 4-14x44 Aetec Master Series Riflescope DEMO-A
Click to view 512105, Illuminated Truplex, 1"
$149.95
If you keep a check on the Sample List you can find some great deals and at the same time save towards a better budget.

Here's the link so Good luck! Let us know what you decide to do. Thunbs Up

The SS is the best choice there and really is interesting. But, in this case it probably does not work for the intended use.

If I look at it as an upgrade of the Lup to the SS for use on the LTR, it makes sense.
But I had intended to put my 3-9x55 IOR on the ltr..

Let me try this again (sorry all for my confusion).
I looked again the IOR is not an IOR but an ATN 3-9x55 IR..

Would I do better trading both of them and winding up with something like the 16x SS (for the rem ltr) and a lower power something for the FS2000?

If you feel like your getting a fair deal with the trade it would be a good option. Kinda puts you in a tough spot. You usually take a hit on your stuffs value in a trade. But, having what you want sometimes off sets the difference. Good Luck!

If memory serves me right, SWFA does not accept ATN scopes for trade-in, but you shouldcheck with them.

is there something bad about ATN, or is it ust that they don't resell what they don'tsell new?

I have heard that the quality control on ATN is hit and miss some are good some are not which makes used ones suspect.  You could always sell it on ebay or craigs list etc.   What is the correct scope depends on how you will use the rifle.  The Bushnell 4200   3-9x40 is a good value for an all around scope.  A fixed 16x is more suited to a range queen than a hunting gun and will look a bit grey in low light.  How will the rifles be used?    As for the FS2000  being a bulpup in .223 it is probably better suited to an aimpoint or Trijicon ACOG at a time when you can afford to go there.  If I had to select from stuff in the $175 range I'd be here:
Vortex 1.75-5x32 Diamondback Rifle Scope Dead-Hold BDC Vortex 1.75-5x32 Diamondback Rifle Scope
Stock # - DBK08BDC
  • Matte
  • Dead-Hold BDC
  • 1"
$179.95
