Hi folks. New to the sight here. I am looking to buy my first decent quality scope. My question is this. On the El Cheapo scopes that I have owned in the past, the adjustable objective seems to act as a focus for the image seen through the scope. I thought this was designed to correct for parallax error only. Why does it act as a focus? Also, why don't rifle scopes have a true focus like a telescope might? Or does the A/O act as more of a focus than I origianlly thought? Like I said. I am a optics idiot.. I tried the search feature and read a lot of good material but I only added to my confusion. Anybody want to put me on the right path? Thanks and glad I found the forum. Kevin |

The AO is the focus or parallax adjustment. If your scope has a "quick focus" or an eye piece focus, this brings your reticle ONLY into focus.
If your scope doesn't have an AO or side focus, it's parallax is preset @ the factory.
I hope that and the thread above helped you out.
Welcome to OT!! Glad your here....... |

Thanks Cheaptrick. Glad to be here and thanks for the reply. I had read that thread but I guess I didn't realize that the adjustable objective worked to correct the parallax error and focus the sight picture. I guess they are one in the same then? Kevin |
