I just bit got me a 10/22 for my christmas present to my self, its a 10/22 LVT stainless, i wanted to get some input on scope options, its gonna be a split 50/50 plinking/target shooting and hunting gun(squirrel/rabbit/woods gun), i was thinking a Adjustable objective 3x9x40 scope, please give brand suggestions, money is not really and option(under $500) also note that its gun spend alot of time riding in trucks so durability and zero hold is very important. And advise would be great. Thanks Brent

For a 22lr I would get a Burris Signature series 1.5-6. Some may say it's too nice or expensive scope for a 22lr but it gives you very good glass with a wide field of view. A 22lr is basically a 75yrd gun, not saying you can make longer shots, but for squirrels and other small game the wide field of view is important. I have killed hundreds of Nutria and Groundhogs with a Volquartsen 10/22 magnum with this scope on it. Just my .02.

My opinion...I would look for something off the Samplelist in a lower power range (like Jehu said).  There's no way I would spend close to $500 for a scope for a 10/22.  You don't have put junk on it, but spending $100-$200 on a decent scope would work just fine.

These are a few I found with a quick look.  The Bushnell Elite is going to the best of this bunch...IMO.

Brent,
Welcome to the OT.  We discourage "double posting".  Pick one thread and eliminate the other...
Thank you.

I would spend $500.00+ for a scope for a 10/22 and would consider something in the Conquest line from the samplelist.  But that is just me. Something in 2.5-4x low end and 10-14x top end.  It might cost a little more than your $500, but there are a lot more options.  And, on a clear day, you can see forever...

On my 22 I have the 2-7 Weaver.   On my 22 mag I have the Aimpoint 9000L you can spend a lot more money but you  cant change the fact that a 22 does not have the same quality of precision bullet design as a 17hmr or a centerfire bullet.  A 22 is a great 50 yd and closer rifle and can be used at 100 to 200 with some effort but I dont see much benefit to spending over $500 unless you spend a lot of time behind it and just want the better glass.  The Aimpoint is rather a different type deal but I like it for low light hunting and its dam tough. I did have a 4-16 Bushnell on my 22 fot a while but tend to think the 2-7 Weaver is a better choice for a truck gun that way if it gets broken you are not out five hundred. Also the Super Sniper series is really tough the 6x42 would be a fine scope for a 22 but its a big scope compared to something like a Weaver Rimfire scope.

Elite 4200 for under 200 bucks, can find at 149 if look and have SWFA match.  Well under budget, can use rest of funds to custom trigger it, extended mag release, throw some titanium parts in, buy a years supply of 22 ammo.....strip club, beer......just saying
