This is one of the new targets I built this weekend. The steel plate is 16 inches by 16 inches 1 inch thick with 2 1/2 holes drilled for the hangers. The staind is 1 inch EMT. To hold it up there will be 2 feet of 3/4 rebar 1 foot in the ground and 1 foot in the EMT.These target will be from 200 yards out. I'm going shooting this weekend and will let you know how well they work out.I'm betting they will do great!! I will paint them white to see the hits when I staind them up in there too be shot locaton).

What kind of steel did you use for that BD? I used AR-400 for mine, thinking it would be hard enough, but even a 22-250 will break the surface of that at 200 yards, and at 400 a .300 Wby makes a pretty good ding in it too. Nice looking set up though, you'll love them.

I hope it holds up for a few ronds anyways,

At 1" thick it will hold up for quite a few rounds, but it may not have a nice flat surface anymore. I used the AR plate because I used mild steel the first time, and at 400 yards even a 150gr .270 round would puch into it pretty well. Now if I'm at 400 or more, at least I can't break the surface of the plate. At 1" though, you have a lot of steel to wear away.

Sure, I just have to find an envelope for them to fit into. I wonder how many stamps it is going to take?

Thanks Mike, I keep thinking I should set the first one up at 300 instead of 200. I hope they won't send any of the bullets back.

The day of shooting went off really well. We headed out at 4:30am with all the new targets and other items we thought we would need for the day of shooting. Here is a few pic's of the day. I took these with a cell phone so sorry about the quality of the pic's. Anyway we shot a .308, 30-06, 300wm,a few 243's, 270 and a few 223's ruger ranch rifles. It was a fun day but alot of work seting up. we had some 15mph wind blowing from right to left in the pic's

This was the shooting line

This was looking down the line. 25 yards was where the guy is standing and the 100 and 200 yards are the wooded targets you can see. you can almost see the 3 4 and 500 targets in the pic but they are there. the 500 is at the back wood line.

500 new target during set up

this is the 400 yards set up.

this was setting up the 300. You can see the 400 and the 500 if you look close.

Now just some random shot pic's

300 yards

300 up close. it dented the steel but nothing to bad

a few shoots at the 400yard target
My first 5 shots at the 500 yard target with useing the BDC in a 300 win mag

This was just playing with a 10XSS on my rem .308. man I love that scope. after I got it dialed in at 500 my 10 yearold nephew shot the 500 2 times in a row and gave up because of the recoil. this is the same scope I ran over with my truck back during hunting season. They are crazy tuff.

What kind of steel did you use?  If anyone ever needs targets this guy in Nevada has some cool stuff at reasonable prices.

That location looks familiar!  Isn't the 500 yard line about where we saw the flock of turkeys in Jan?

Nice setup!  Complete with a canopy!  Thunbs Up

CF,
If I remember right right it is 5150 grade. They are 16 inches x 16 inches square and a little over one inch thick.

RD,
yes sir!! To the right of the shooting lane was the big box I shot the yote out of adn the red hill is to the left. If we moved to the hill (where the other box was) where we was standing when the "deer" ranacross the field there is not telling how far of a shot we could have i'm thinking 1600yards or so. You need to get back up and shoot with us one weekend or 4 days.
