How about this one in FFP.

That one looks very promising. I wonder if the MOA reticle in the new 10X might make it to this one in time for a Tax day sale?

What power is the ranging Scale set to on the MQDM.  I am interested in putting this on a 6.5 Creedmore, for a new mountain rifle.

Thank you

Thanks Chris!

Hey 637, I own one of the FFP 3-15 scopes and just received my new SFP 3-15x42 SS with the MQ2 reticle. Have not mounted it on my JP 6.5G rifle yet but just looking and comparing to it's brother the reticle is amazing and the optics even seem better. I am expecting to shoot tiny groups at long ranges with this one! Your choice of the new DM version is a good one. I could see where for hunting, with a non illuminated reticle - that one would rock at any magnification. I expect that I will own one of those also at some point. Just a comment on sale prices: I view SWFA's pricing as sale prices at all times. I would not hesitate to buy whenever the need has arisen for optics. Also I share another SS with you as in an old 688 class sailor! Good shooting.

Great pictures.  I picked up this scope.  The SFP feature interested me as I wanted a good reticle sight picture at lower powers.  I've had it to the range several times.  Mechanically, this scope seems great.  Turrets and reticle match very well up and the glass is just fine.  As the pictures show, the floating dot is very small and gets lost on all but the most prominent clean lightly colored background.  Of course the pictures are greatly magnified so you have to imagine the dot being way smaller and the tiny black dot gets lost in greens, variable browns, some orange shades and shadows which accounts for virtually everything but a paper target or a painted gong.  My testing was on bright sunny days so I doubt it gets better under less stellar conditions.  For punching paper, a precision shot is possible but for getting on a less pristine object quickly and getting off a pressured shot is mostly a matter of bracketing the aim point somewhere in the middle of the gap which may well be a sight picture some are looking for but I found it to be slow and imprecise under field conditions.  For future considerations, a slightly larger dot, preferably colored red would enhance the functionality of this great scope.

Mike, you realize that if you turn down the mag, the dot will get larger in comparison to your target, right?

Yes.

Although the relationship of the reticle to object changes,  the relationship of the reticle to shooter does not.  Adjusting the magnification does not improve or degrade the shooters perspective of the reticle.

Almost PERFECT. The 3~15,42 SFP, MQDM
The only thing it's lacking is illumination. For my uses anyway. So, my question is. Are there any aftermarket reticle illumination devices that can be clamped on or something????? . .

Imo, for normal people that shoot and hunt in real life. Not some guy that just wants new , more expensive toys to fill their vain existence. The MQDM reticle should be in every scope !!!! That is how good it works. But it is best with the dot and diamond illumination available. I imagine that at some point in the future this reticle will be available in this scope with illumination. And I am not pushing for higher manufacturing costs. I would just like to light up the center dot.
Any idea's??
With illumination it could be ffp .

Thanks for your time.

My other question is, at less than say 9power , does the parralax need to be adjusted from close , less than 10 y/m out to say 150+ y/m ?

I'm going have to get another one of these.  I have the FFP version but the MQDM reticle looks pretty slick.

I have a Savage 22-250 and a KIDD 22 LR that could both benefit from this scope.  I like the small dot but might need to rethink the targets I use to ensure I have the appropriate contrast in order to see it.
