Modular Revolution?  OR did they just combine the eyepiece with the prism?

Pricey, but love the 95mm option.  Go big or go home...

ATX/STX setup looks really neat. Real expensive, checked a couple sites and they both said no ETA yet.

The TLS APO 30mm lens for digiscoping looks interesting.

No autofocus though ... Sad

It is hard to see the real benefit to this new system, although the field flattener eyepiece is an interesting idea in a spotter.  Watch out for the rolling ball!

I don't see much of a benefit either. However, I'm sure there will be those that will rush right out and buy one to be the first on their block...

A 95mm ocular and system that can take digital back or ccd, various government groups, tv camera dudes, etc. will interested, will also make a very nice astro scope.
The system will have many uses beyond birding and nature viewing.
The US gov has bought many 100mm Optolynth scopes for everything from border security, counter sniper to wildlife observation.
It will be interesting to see if this scope is better than the Optolynth.

I think the new ATX/STX spotter sounds pretty cool. A modular system that you can build and customize. If Swarovski comes out with something new down the road you like, just add to you current configuration. No more banging your head trying to decide angled or straight, 85mm or 65mm, etc. The problem I see is the price will probably be insanely expensive.

The new 65mm and 85mm are reasonably priced (for Swaro quality and service), the 95mm is going to be over $4,000.00 by a tad.
Big, high quality glass means big prices (check high end ED refractor astro scopes).
If it can serve a variety of uses then the cost can spread out.
Emotionally I am not ready to pay $4,000.00+ until I can get my eye behind one.
It may be possible to rationalize it for dual use...just maybe.

Below is an article I found on the Cornell website about the new ATX/STX. I tried to add it earlier on my previous post but couldn't via my cell phone. According to the article the 95mm objective alone appears to be just over 2k.
