Scope and rifle, actually.  I picked up a Tikka T3 Lite SS in 270 WSM last night.  I had them put a Sightron SII 3-9.  I peered through just about everything they had and I concluded, based on the limited experience of veiwing stuffed animals hanging on the walls, that the Sightron optics are in the ball park with the rest if not better than most.  This weekend I'll get out, sight it in, and find how well it works.

I've not had a chance to get to the range, nor will I this weekend.  Since I reside in a residential area, marching out into the yard to see how good Sightron optics appear in the light day, is a bad plan   The neighbors would not understand.  However, I managed  to check out the scope by opening the sliding glass doors, staying well back in a semi-darkened room, and scanning the overcast, late afternoon scene.

Last month I hunted for nearly two weeks, taking several annimals and scanning dozens more, using a Leupold compact 3-9X33 rilfe scope.  I was delighted to use it, and shot accurately and effectively.  While I don't have that scope here to compare it side by side with the Sightron, my impression is the Sightron is substantially sharper, clearer and brighter.  Peering through it is like turning on the lights.  I'm optomistic.  Gotta' get to the range.
