I'm currently looking to upgrade my rifle scope for Remington bdl 243.  It is used primarily for deer hunting and punching paper.  Most shots are within 100 yards.  I currently have a leupold vari-xIIc 2-7.  The scope I am currently looking at is a Leupold vx-3 2.5-8x36.  It is light, good eye relief and plenty of magnification for my applications.  Would like to keep things under $400. Anyone have any other suggestions?  I have read good things about vortex rifle scopes but don't have any first hand experience.  Would appreciate any help.

thanks,

Mark

Sorry I forgot to write this in my first post.  Is the vx 3 scope mentioned above worth the extra hundred dollars compared to a Leupold vx 2 3-9x40?

thanks

The VX-3 is a pretty solid scope for that price range.

I am probably gaining a reputation as someone with a stuck record saying vortex vortex vortex. But this comes with good reason and several years of experience with their product and customer service. It was the guys here on this forum that introduced me to the brand that I have chosen for almost every optical need since my first investment. I also really like Burris Optics as they have outstanding quality, customer service and value as well. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

My experience with Burris CS...if you can call it that, was far different. Stare
I'll NEVER buy a Burris product again.

I'm glad yours went well, REP.

I would buy the vx3 because I think the glass would be better...and the Golden Ring is fatter!!  It's like getting the KING RANCH emblem on your Ford Pick Up.....
