I put a Leupold VXI 3x9-40 LR reticle on my encore before this season and love it.  I just wanted to know everyone else's thoughts about this scope or the VXI line of scopes.  Thanx

I have a VX-I and honestly I don't like the scope at all. Actually have 2. I just bought one from a buddy a few weeks ago because his went bad too and I got it super cheap. I figured I could send it in to get it fixed. To me it's not any clearer than a $30 Tasco I've used. A couple friends looked through it and thought the Tasco looked clearer. I couldn't tell a difference though. Then in the first 2 years I had to send it into Leupold twice for repair. The second time it seemed like the POI was changing as I shot it. It never seemed to hold zero well when it did work as if you dropped it at all or bumped it hard it would lose zero. Like I had it hit me in the forehead when I shot. It was 1" below the bullseye. I put 2 or 3 shots there and was shooting one more before adjusting it up. The next shot after it hitting me in the forehead it wasn't even on the target. It was now about 5" low. I've just not all been impressed with this scope but that's just my personal experience.

Then a buddy had one on a muzzle loader and at first he loved it. That was last year. This year he realized why I don't like mine. It shot fine at the first of the year. A few days into muzzle loading season he shot it and the scope was way off as he couldn't even hit the target. He did some more testing and turns out his scope was adjusting itself when he shot. This was the same thing mine seemed to do when I sent it into Leupold the second time. I actually bought his super and I mean super cheap just because it was such a good deal. I figured I could send it into Leupold to get it fixed. He said he just didn't want to mess with it. He is a big Simmons fan. So when you see how he likes Simmons and even he didn't like Leupold.

Then a 3rd friend had one and they could not get his gun it was on to group at all. Finally they took it off and put a Bushnell on there and it shot a group that could be covered with a dime. He sent his in to get repaired and traded it off as soon as he got it back. He never tried it again.

So after having issues then having 2 friends that have had issues. The only two I happen to know who own Leupolds I'm just not too fond of them. Their customer service seems great but that seems to be about it.
