Hey guys, looking for your opinion on this one. I have a $900 Budget for my new Long Range Scope. I belive i Can stretch it to $1200, but that´s my limit. I recently bought a pair of vipers and i´m very pleased with them so, i was considering the new 6-24X50 Viper PST.
What do you think?? Is it a good option?? Does the PST have improvements regarding optic quality over the Viper??

I really want a FFP reticle and a felt really appealed to the mrad reticle with the mil adjustments. What else would you recommend that fulfills this 3 requirements (Budget, FFP, mil-mil ret/turret)??

The PSTs are not going to be shipping til the end of the year.  So if you want something now, that will probably kill the PST want.

IOR 2.5-10x is a nice scope, glass is superb, adjustments are accurate and it comes mil/mil, with a fantastic reticle.

Also is the SS 3-9x.

If you want 6-24x with mil mil for the price you are stating you might have to wait for the PST.  THe new IOR 6-24x with mil mil is closer to the $2000 range.

Falcon menace have a few but no Ideal on their quality, Maybe Horus have a few? not sure.  Pride Fowler have a few and are suppose to be decent, don't know for sure.  Maybe ILya can give his input, he should know a few and the best thats currently out.

Are you looking for a specific minimum or max power range?

I expect a 6x maximum on the lower end and no less than 16 on the high end. I read somewhere that PST where shipping by the end of summer, not the end of the year. Something important to consider.

They are not giving a time line on when they will be released.  The stopped selling them and sent them back to production to have some changes made to them.

Here is exactly what they released about it.

Quote Vortex Viper PST Update

Dear Valued Dealer,

As you know, the Viper PST riflescope series offers an amazing combination of features for long range/tactical shooters and has created a lot of excitement and anticipation since they were announced earlier this year. We have been working very diligently to bring the PSTs to market and to make sure that they meet our critical standards of function and performance. It is extremely important to make sure that our dealers and customers are pleased in every way with this product.

We have made a decision to have a critical component of this scope retooled in order to meet our exacting standards and the rigorous demands that will be expected of them by our customers. Unfortunately, this action will cause some additional delay to the introduction of this series. We are sincerely sorry for this delay and the effect that it has and will have on you and your customers.

At this time we do not have an exact timeline or ETA for the scopes, but do anticipate that we will be able to ship these out to you before the end of the year. Please understand that this is a top priority and we will do our best to get them to you as soon as possible
."

If you want a high magnification FFP scope for ~$900, your options are limited.  Vortex Viper PST when it is available again will be a good option.

You can also try the new Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x50FFP:

or the Weaver Tactical 4-20x50, although it has very limited adjustment range.

Mmmmmm. That makes me wonder if I´m willing to wait. It´s not like i´m in a rush, but would like it delivered fast. I really liked the IOR but it is out of my budget.
Since we´re already here. If i could consider buying a $2,000 scope which one would be your choice between the Razor 5-20X50 or the IOR 6-24X50??

Long range Hunting and Sooting. I´m plannig to build a .338 EDGE for this aplication and i would like to start thinking on what scope should i buy. I´ve heard a lot about NF (first consideration), but still interested in making some research and willing to change my mind.

I just compared the new IOR 6-24x56 and Razor 5-20x50  head to head.  Both are good scopes.  I think the Razor is a better allround design due to the lack of tunnel vision at low magnifications and large adjustment range.  However, once you get past 10x, IOR is better optically with higher resolution and wider field of view (please note that I am referring to the new 6-24x56 IOR).

In the end it comes down to what is more important to you.  For a long range scope, I really like to have a lot of adjustment range, so I'd lean toward the Razor.

If the Razor didn't have that beer can where the elevation turret should be, it'd be a hands-down favorite! Whistling

I kinda liked the fact that I was able to pull off the top of the turret and use it as a shot glass.
