Been lurking around for a while and love the really good information shared on this site.  I have a question for you guys????
This past year I bought myself a new rifle that will be my go to rifle when ever I Deer hunt in Louisiana.  I don't hunt that much but wanted to upgrade from my modle 710 Rem.  After much research I settled for the Tikka.  I love this gun as it is extremely accurate.  Now I want to upgrade from my current 3X9X50 Buckmaster Nikon.  I thought I was happy with this scope until this year.  When sighting in the rifle I noticed that when powered all the way up I could not get the reticle to stay in focus when I had the target focused.  More importantly, I missed a shot at a great Buck this year.  By the time I could see the 7th point(club rule) it was too late.  Not a great rack, but it was well over 200lbs.  Easily would have been my personal best.  Now for the question.  If $800.00 is my limit which scope.  FYI, most of my hunts will be shots less than 140 yards and I want a 3X9X50 or 3X10X50 or something very close to that.  I have looked at:
Zeiss Conquest 3.5X10X50 and Nikon Monarch and Kahles Helia CL 4X12X52 and 3X10X50
How do those rank and which is better?
Thanks in advance for all the suggestions.

I wouldn't run a 50mm scope on a small, compact, petite rifle like a Tikka.  Just a personal preference.  That's like putting big mud tires on a 4dr sedan IMO.

I'd look at light, compact scopes.  2.5-8 Conquest or Leupold VX3 3.5-10x40 would be perfect IMO.  I like 50mm's for my bench guns but not for hunting.   Overscoped rifles are the sign of an amatuer.

First and foremost, congratulations on purchasing a great rifle: the best deal in hunting, in my opinion.  I own several Tikkas and they are all great guns, very accurate out of the box.

Next, what caliber are you shooting?  If it is a magnum, consider a 30mm tube.

I have a Conquest on my T3 stainless and it has served me well.

At that price range, I'd also consider a Swaro AH.  There is a 3-9x36 on the samplelist that would work great.  And the difference between Nikon and Swaro will amaze you.
