hey guys.  2 years ago i was on here and got some good advice about a scope for my new remington 270 wsm.   I decided to go with a kahles ky 3.5-10x50 which is a very clear scope to be surebut it just doesnt seem to suit me.   i have trouble with the eye relief and it seems to be a little touchier as far as eye alignment that my other scopes which are leupolds.   I have been rifle hunting deer for about 20 years and have never had scope bit until last year when i got this new kahles and have been cracked 3 times now and i think its causing me to flinch.   I have to be snuggled right up tight and have to be centered right on or i get the shadowing on the edges.
so i am looking to upgrade.  I often times get some 300-400 yard shooting on my big field and do get out west for longer shooting every other year.  but i also do ALOT  of stand hunting in the deep north woods so i need something i can do some snap shooting as well.
i dont have any problem spending somewhere in the 1k range as long as im getting what i want.   I have never used a swaro or a ziess but people on here seem to think thats the way to go if you want the best so i am leaning towards one or the other.   let me hear what the experts say

you could get a swaro z-5 for about $1400 which i know is more than you want to spend but it would give a broad set of magnification to use.

I would see what the trade in program would give you for the kahles or post it in the trading post and take the money you make off it and add it to what you have and get the swaro mention above.  my 2cents

I don't know if the the swaro av/z line is going to be much better optically than the Kahles kx.  I think you might need to jump to the "alpha" scopes to really see the difference, but there are some good deals on the alpha swaro's and zeiss line on the sample list.

Look into trading your KX in for one of the CSX or C's available on the Sample List.  The CSX has the MultiZero features for long range shooting and would be a step up over the KX.

For that amount of money, you shouldn't be having any problem finding a Zeiss Victory or a Swarovski scope of high quality.
I have seen Victorys for prices much under the ones you are prepaired to pay so it shouldn't be a problem.
You will enjoy their eyerelief and field of you and my guess is that it would work out just perfect for you.
