Hey Guys!.............Although I have yet to choose which .375 rifle & cartridge I want for Africa, I have narrowed down my final scope choice for that rifle. It will be the Trijicon in the 3x9 variable (amber).........Called around and happened to locate a dealer today that had one mounted on a 1 year old, seldom used 300 Wby., which was recently put on consignment because of the owners passing. The original paperwork or receipt for the Trijicon showed a Jan `07 purchase date. I tried to buy just the scope, but the terms and conditions from the family dictated that it be sold as a package with the rifle............To say the very least, I was extremely impressed by this scope. Instead of using the conventional black crosshairs for the dangerous dark colored beasts (aka. caped buffalos), my thinking has been changing to convert to an illuminated reticle............Compared to all other illuminated scopes that need batteries, or a small flashlite (the firefly Elites), the Trijicon uses NO batteries. I found the 2 fine posts with the illuminated arrow on top to offer a clean, uncluttered view of the target. The illumination intensity coming from the arrow is also fully adjustable as needed............I also discovered how quickly to achieve target acquisition this scope is capable of, while keeping both eyes open too!!! Just as quick, if not quicker than my Nikon scout scope!!.......The optics of the Trijicon, to say the least, are OUTSTANDING in all magnifications. For my own edification, I did happen to compare this Trijicon to the other high end scopes outside that he had in stock; the Zeiss Conquest, Kahles, the new Monarch, a Swaro AND YES,,,even my pet 4200!!!!......Well guys! Optically if there is a difference between the Kahles and the Trijicon, I could not see it!! Although superior optically, I couldn`t distinguish too much of a difference between the Swaro and the Trijicon. And, IMO, I couldn`t see a any optical superiority that the Conquest or the new Monarch would have either!!!..........I do have to admit though that the Trijicon was a little brighter, with better contrast than my 4200, but not by much! But! The Trijicon 3x9 is twice the price or more than what my 3x9 4200 was.............A recent  article about the Trijicon in the Oct. `07 issue of "American Rifleman" discusses a concern that I had regarding the triangle`s ability to precision shoot for tight groups and do so as well as the fine crosshairs....The author`s results? A 3 shot group with all 3 holes touching each other at 200 yards, using a Savage 112, 300 Win. I guess that settles that issue!!!.........The TR20 was also freezed in a block of ice, with no fogging or leaks after the thawing out and no problems either after leaving the scope in a locked vehicle during the hot summer.....................Given the need for no batteries, its capability for quick target acquisition with both eyes open, the adjustable illuminated arrow reticle for use on the darker beasts, its generous eye relief on lower powers for hunting, I can`t find anything wrong or any disadvantage to owning this scope!!!! And in being totally honest with myself, for dangerous dark colored game, I would rather have the Trijicon on a 375 rather than my own Elite 4200!!! ShockedShockedShockedShockedShockedShocked WHAT????? That`s right!!!..................Hey Dolphin! You have a Trijicon don`t you?????.............Ok guys! Let me have it!!!! Pros? Cons?.......If there are any cons, I sure as hell can`t see or find any!!!...................

Up north here the whitetail trackers who hunt up in the unorganized townships (hundreds of square miles of paper company holdings) use the trijicon scopes more than any other brand due to the fact that a larger porition of their shots are taken fast at jumped and running game. They use the two open eyes aiming and shooting principal that the triangle is designed for....BRC I think its known as. Their optics have always been considered to be in the top of the mid level. Hope you enjoy your new scope.........

Pyro!!!............. The situation over in Africa is a little different than here!! And for that and for the reasons I mentioned, the Trijicon would be a better choice for the black colored dangerous game......I am feeling just fine!!! My opinions about the 4200 have not changed...........Go ahead and get your 4200!!!
