I am in the market for a new scope. I have saved and am finally ready to start looking . My main requirement for this scope will be for low light situations. It will be on a 7mm-08 and most shots will be under 100 yards. I am wanting to stay under $700. I don't need to see 2 hours after dark. I only want to see till last legal light(30 min. before sunrise and 30 after sunset). I would like to get the best scope for the price. If a $500 scope will get me those last minutes then that would be great. I am open to all brands. Lots of folks pointed me here for help. Thanks in advance.

A Zeiss Conquest 3x9x40 will be your best best for the money ($399 from SWFA). I personally have shot a browning a-bolt with a zeiss conquest with the 50mm objective and it will give you those 30-45 min after dark you need.

I personally am a 4200 guy,  I believe you almost have to double the price of these scopes to see a dramatic difference,  Though I can tell you that with all the good things said here about Kahles I've finally pulled the trigger on a 4-12x52 CL-MZ, I'll let you know the results in the future.

Pyro, did you get the rain jacket yet, i'm just curious of the quality of it, because I, like you also purchased another 4200, but haven't recieve the jacket yet.

I hope its half way decent,  talking about free things, I'm going to list all the items I've recieve from buying scopes.  Weaver scope-- insulated jacket,  Burris scope--gps, Bushnell--rain jacket, luepold scopes--scope cover/lense covers.  At this rate i'm going to save myself right into the poor house, but one thing I know, I won't get cold, wet and should be able to find my way back.

I got a jacket when I got my rangefinder.  Used the jacket this year guiding, and it is a nice jacket.  For cold weather you will want a liner, but it is a nice outer shell.  Especially for $10 shipping.

As for the scope question.  I am going to go away from the mainstream and recommend a burris scope.  Euro or Black Diamond if you can afford it.  The sig sel is a very nice scope as well and cheaper.  I hunt with several burris scopes (Fullfield II, Black Diamond, and XTR) and the Black Diamond and XTR will definiteyl do what you want, as will the Euro Diamond.  Downside is they are heavy scopes.  Other than that, I love them.

I got mine today and was pretty impressed.  Definitely just a jacket, but it is made out of nice quiet material.
