I just picked up a new s/s Sako A7 .308 at Cabelas for $749.  Now it needs some glass.  I am thinking either the Zeiss Conquest or the Cabelas Euro?  I need some guys who know their stuff to help me out.  Any suggestions?  What bases and rings?

You really can't go wrong with the 3-9x40 conquest. They have a very proven track record and better than decent glass.  I still believe they are one of the best values available today.

Agreed.  The Conquest is going to a good bet.

Add me to the list of Conquest fans.  My only knock against the 3-9X40 Conquest is it's longer and heavier than I would prefer for a variable scope of its magnification range.  It's a solid, no-nonsense scope with very good optics at a very reasonable price for the quality you get.

Another Conquest supporter here. It will do the job without breaking the bank. Excellent

OK, i just fugured out that Meopta makes the Cabelas Euro scopes.  Since their is no price break, i would much rather have the Meopta brand.  I am stuck between the Conquest and the Meopta 3x9x42.  From what i have found, it is much lighter than the Zeiss.  Is this a big deal???

I would agree with SVT. the glass on the VX2 is good, but not in the same league as the other 2

I asked some of the same questions when I bought an A7 a couple of years ago.  Here was the discussion:
