hey everyone. I started hunting about a year ago and I've been using my buddies' guns for a while. I was looking for a good, lightweight rifle with better than decent accuracy. Any suggestions?

For what stated purpose? As an example (for plinking and tree rats), I have a Browning T Bolt in 17 HMR. It's lightweight, well made and very accurate. For a walk-about fun gun, it's the bugs nuts. BTW, welcome to the OT Forum!

Go for the .221 remington fireballCool  Yes yes I know it's a centerfire, and not real popular, but it is very re-loadable and fills a niche market.

What are you hunting? I know you have deer hunter in your name, but this is a rimfire section. It would really help if we knew what you were hunting. As well as how far you intend to shoot.

Knowing what you shoot deer with I guess that is your squirrel rifle.

Hey, I would never use that, but was just trying to be helpful... "light" to me is 9.0lb...  Lightest rifle I've ever owned is a Browning BAR...

I'm more interested in deer hunting than anything else.

I would also add .308 for bolt & 6.5 for AR15

Any preference for action type?   What type of terrain do you hunt - long shots? short distances?  mixed.

Thanks guys!

As far as action, no particular preference. I would like to do close range. Would a shotgun be better in that case?

A sabot slug works well 100-150 yards. I prefer 243,270 or 30/30 to reach out a little further.

25 06 Big Grin Good for short and midrange applications and will do amazing for anything from small varmints to elk... My buddy has a Ruger 77 Mark 2 T and carries it everywhere I myself dont find it to be very heavy but some people do... But it is extremely accurate and a fun gun... Welcome to the OT
