I just got a great deal on a Rossi matched set for my 8 year old son, in .243, .22LR, and 20 gauge.  The barrels are drilled for scope mounts and I have an old Simmons 3x9x40 I was gonna throw on it and get it dialed in for him for his birthday.  I was wondering if anyone knew off hand what mounts and rings I should get for this gun?  Thanks!

Sorry, couldn't help it. Someone once got me on a "Shotgun for my wife" post I made once Big Grin

Now to answer your question...Rossi makes their own weaver-style scope base for their long guns called the P-80...weaver, braztech and b-square also make one. I would recomend the weaver. As for rings, any ones that work with weaver type bases will work!

The Weaver is MFG # 48092 92A for Brazetech Rossi and T/C Contendor

Just got in from Gander Mountain with the new bases (bought 2, one for .22 and one for .243).  Gonna put the scope on the .22 and get him used to aiming and shooting and then pull the ol' switcheroo and chuck the scope on the .243.  When he pops a deer, he'll never feel the kick.  Thanks for all the help!

Good Luck! If you don't mind me suggesting ... buy (or handload) a box of "managed recoil" 243 ammo and have him or her practice with that.  The difference in bbl weight might be enough to throw them off.  Have them wear plugs AND muffs, most kids are more scaried of the noise then the recoil.

I bought a youth 223 and have a 3-9x36 leupold with Weaver medium rings the base is included in the package. It's a nice little package comes in a small case that fits barrel and scope it takes 20 seconds to assemble perfect for keeping in the trunk with the first aid kit.Enough punch to kill a deer under 100 yards and teach new shooters.Gander has the best price on these guns.
