These new Remingtons are actually made by Crvena Zastava in Serbia. They were previously sold as Interarms MarkX(I'm proud owner of one in .30-06),and Charles Daly. They are very good rifles, these export models had better triggers, barrels, stocks and finish than ones sold on the domestic market.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Not aiming at Winchester, as the claw extractor on the long action is the only similarity to a M70 Classic.  Other than that, it's pretty much Mauser 98.

I've never handled one either; I'm just going by the pics in their catalog.  I like the looks of them also.  Looks to be a pretty good value, going by the MSRP.  Based on price, it looks like they may be a viable option for a 98 action to use for building a custom rifle as well.
