Just bought this...

1970 Dodge Power Wagon... great engine, body in good shape, about to have a little "touch up" work done on it.  Still has the Air Force gun racks in the cab...
In case of "Avalanche, Avalanche, Avalanche..."

Hope you don't take offense to Dan, but I always thought that body style was the ugliest pickup truck I ever saw.
However, being an Air Force truck gives it a pass. I'm sure the airmen that drove and rode in that truck gave it enough verbal abuse to certify it as durable. Hey, and if it's the slant six that Dodge was famous for, it's bullet proof.
Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

No offense taken.  I think it is ugly, too... however, I don't care.
360 V8 with brand new Edelbrock 4-barrel carb...it'll pull down a house (not mine, but probably anyone else's)... and it was never intended to be pretty... but I might paint it Metallic Candy Apple Red, just for fun.   Has a dual drive train... can be rear wheel drive, front wheel drive or 4-wheel drive, has granny gear for heavy work and three "driving" gears.  Factory headers... 33-inch all terrain tires and a 4-inch lift kit.  Probably will improve repellant characteristics of doors and behind the seat.

Ha! We had one just like it at ranch back in the day, we could plow down overgrown fire roads with ease. Bandito

Brakes are worn out so I'm replacing at least the front with disc brakes, rear with drum, moving the incendiary device (gas tank) from behind the seat to under the bed, clutch adjust or replace and maybe a fancy paint job so everyone will think it is beautiful (ha).
Monster machine... even my wife loves it (as long as I'm driving... no power steering, but I might add that too).

I dropped off a list to my mechanic of the first 11 things I want done to the vehicle.  He's supposed to get me an estimate in a day or two.  Some are overlapping, none are things I want to do without. He has three vehicles undergoing some refurb in front of me, so probably 2 months before he can get to it.  I got it registered on Tuesday, so it is "street legal".  All the critical things work, some just less efficiently than I want.  I had to drive it to the court house to register it.. they had to visually inspect the VIN.  Does great on the highway.
Fun so far...

IF I paint it, I've decided on Metallic Titanium Blue.  A fancied up version of the original
USAF blue...

My F250 is starting to nickle and dime me with hundred dollar bills. I'm thinking of calling my military vehicle collector friends to see if I can find a M37 or M715.
I will have to say that Dan's find is outstanding, and his color pick would perfect. I think I'm getting envious.

Know how you feel Lynn. Seems you just invested a few hundred to keep her going when something Elsa crap out. Difficult sometimes when to say enough enough.
