I am looking to replace the scope on a 22 hornet and have narrowed it down to these four and was looking for some feedback on what you guys would choose.
I have a budget of $200 and looking to keep the scope around 12 oz.and a 32 - 35mm obj.   Here are the choices.....Burris FFII 2-7x35 with German #4, Weaver V7 2.5-7x32, Bushnell 3200 2-7x32,  the fourth is the Sightron SII 1.5 - 6x42 it weighs in at 14 oz and is bigger than I would like, but might go with it anyway.  What do you guys think?

I have a ffII 3-9x40 on my 270 and really like it.  I can't really compare it to the others because I don't have any, but I can say that the ffII is a good scope.

i am about to pull the trigger on that particular FFII - i would say that would be the best one for you out of the bunch for your SETUP.

the sightron may be a little bit better for resolution, hopefully someone will chime in.

KOSHKIN - question for you:

is the sightron and FFII on par, optically? i am wanting the lowprofile w/ #4 reticle and the FFII is one of the only 'affordable' ones out there.

any other suggestions?  i have lots of good glass and don't want to step down too much. i wish sightron had one in this setup in their SII or
bigsky line.

good luck and let us know what you decide, shepard.

J

Treesheperd, I think you are under powering yourself.  I just bought a Savage Model 40 and you know, I cannot remember what I put on it, but it was at least 9x on the top end.  Its a nice flat shoot cartridge up to 200 yards, making it a fine little varmint rifle.  I have handloaded more efficient bullets for mine, making it even a flatter shooting cartridge.  All of the scope brands you mentioned are excellent for your price point, but I would step up a notch in power and would make sure that you look through each one before purchasing.

Interesting, a frog on the OT.  This is either a joke or he is an imbecile.

hmmmm not sure if that is advice or what.....

Dolphin - as to that choice of scopes I use the hornet in thickets next to a few farms. The longest shot is usually 50 yards, so I like the really wide field of view.  Otherwise the .22-250 goes with me.   The hornet is already a good setup, just looking for an excuse to get another scope.  I like the Burris FFII and will probably go with that one.  I like the #4 reticles.

Burris FFII is a nice scope, but I would find the 4a reticle heavy for varmint hunting.  Try it out on some targets of similar size.  If your longest shots are 50 yards, I would agree with your magnification choices and for a wider field of view.  You will be perfectly satisfied with the Burris.  I have two myself.

We really should post some sort of warning about the possible damage to monitors, choking hazards and such.
