I read that MEOPTA is coming out with a new illuminated 1.5-6 model Meostar. Does anyone know if this available yet? If so where can it be purchased?

It was on display at that SHOT show a few months ago. Ilya commented on it. I have been waiting for it to become available. If I was Meopta I would want to start selling it before deer season. Hopefully we'll see it soon.

Thanks...but I am ashamed to say my first post was not the best way to start off. :-)
First pieces of the new Meostar R1 1.5-6x42 RD are scheduled for beginning of August, not June.
Sorry bout that.

Hi,

Yes we did.  I wanted to get more involved with the forum community and decided to finally join instead of just reading what everyone was interested in writing about.

Hi, no it is not.  John is new to Meopta USA (~ one month).  I am over in Europe working for Meopta at the headquarters.

Thanks.

Has Meopta addressed the short eye relief?

The eye relief on the new Meostar R1 1.5-6x42 RD is 80mm (approx. 3.2 inches).
It falls in line more-or-less with all of the eye relief measurements on our scopes.

Why do you guys have them so short?  That is my biggest gripe with Meopta scopes, I would have several if it wasn't for the short eye relief.

Is that measured from the rear-most glass surface or from the collar around the ocular?

(You know why I ask.)

I've never had an issue with this eye relief, I have a Meopta on a 300wby and I can say that its never been a problem. Sure it would be nice to have a little more, but this wouldn't deter me from owning another one.
