hi guys my name is jamie . just come across this site on the net. and it looks very good. im from over the pond in england. where we really like our shooting.

of course our laws are abit different to yours so we have to jump through hoops on somethings.

but its worth it in the long run as its nice to get out and about. target or varmint or deer shooting.

anyway just like to say hi and hope i can pick up some tips off your guys on here.

Most states don't allow hunting after sunset except for pest control and crop damage. Depends on the state and their regulations.
What rifle do you use on varmints?

i have a winchester hevy barrel 22/250 stealth. not the stealth 11 but the older varmint model with the h&s stock. ther eisnt to many of them about over here

you see the odd one for sale secondhand every so often. i was lucky to find one new tho with tags still on it.  i had the trigger sorted but was still not breaking like i wanted.

so got a jewell sent over from the usa. this was before the import laws changed so i was lucky i ordered it when i did. you can get them over here but there £200 to £250 pound

i got mine for £135 so a good saving. the rifle wears a zeiss victory 6x24x56 scope. but need to sort a rail out for it. as i cant bring it back on the scope rings anymore.

its alos abit low to the barrel on the weaver leupold bases. so im hpoing the rail  will sort my problems.

i have a 222 tikka m595 as well. this is more a truck rifle. ive had the barrel cut to 18 inchs so its compact. using 40 grain blizkings its good for all the above up to around 200 to 250 yards. deoending on weather conditions.

i would love to have a go on the open plains with the 22/250 on the dogs you have there.

Hey, don't worry about the spelling here. We got several that can't (or won't) spell THE. Besides we have a Canook here that defends his spelling as true English, so if anybody says anything about your spelling, their just kidding you in good fun.

cheers guys. as you might have seen on the news we are in for a bit of tightening on our gun laws since that guy up in the north of england went round shooting people.

with guns he kept legal on ticket. so there has been abit of a outcry.
we have some of the harsh laws in europe as it. never mind them getting more tough to own guns.

alot are trying to get it so the police and the army are the only ones to have guns. and public are not.  which i cant see happening but we dont need anymore changes.

it doesnt matter if you own a gun legal or not if you wanted to go kill someone that bad there are many ways to do so. but the none shooting public dont see it like this. when something bad happens they just want stuff banned at that it.

as you no the uk is not that big and if shooting was stopped it would lose a hell of a lot of money to our country. and the way we all are at the moment we need to get as much cash as we can to get ourself out of this mess.

Seems like they only get outraged at every gun owner for what one person does, but they don't say anything when some thug comes into a home and takes what ever he wants including a life. I undestand crime has been on a dramatic rise since the banning of handguns, semi-auto rifles and shotguns in GB.

Welcome Jay and good shooting! I made it over to London back in the 70's. We had a grand time, and I plan on returning some day before I croak. I even liked the tubes for crying out loud. LOL.

good afternoon beltfed. i shoot on land i have permission on by farmers. we do have guyn clubs here. and there is a good one not far from us on the other side of worcester where i live.

im not into target shooting tho just pest control and soon to be deer shooting to.

to get granted rifles here you have to be a memeber of a shooting club.
or have ground which is past for the calibers you want to shoot vermin or deer on.

or wild boar like they have in some parts of our country. you have to have a check from the police of your back ground and he also gets granted permission fromt he doctor to see your records.

if that go's well you get a visit from a firearms officer. who has a chat about things. why you want the rifles and etc etc....  thye gun ticket last 5 years then you re new it.

if you want  a change to the ticket yo uhave to put in a form again. why yo uwan ta new rifle it cost 26 pound to do this.

or if its a one for one its free do do this. the rules are pretty tough but its not that bad to be fair. i take it alot of your land over there is goverment or state owned ? you pay a fee and you can go over all of it to hunt ?
