I have just purchased a Remington 540 XR new and unfired in the original box. I need some advice on a good scope in the under 500.00 range. I will be using it for target shooting (not competition). I am an old fart (48) and can't see too well, so need a good reticule and quality scope to make a tack driver. Prefer a side focus.
Most shooting will be 100 yards or less from a rest/ bench with myself and a group of neighbor kids that we take plinking.
I looked at:
SWFA SuperSniper 16X and 20 X
Nikon Monarch 3-12x42, Nikoplex
Weaver Grand Slam 4.5-14x40, Duplex
Please understand, I don't know crap about what to get. Fixed power? Adjustable power? Parallax adjustment? Any ideas? Thanks.
