Hello all.

I have just heard about these scopes & how they will give Swaro's Z6 a run for it's money, maybe even better?

Any out there glassed these Leica's. If so, what were your thoughts. What is the 'eye-box', 'paralax' etc like?

I'm looking at the Z6 1.7-10 or the 2.5-10x42 Leica ATS.

Looks like Leica have a minimum eye-relief of 3.9". Perfect for my 338WM.

Would love to hear all your thoughts about these 2 scopes going head to head.

Thanks

I forgot to add.

Where are these Leica's made. Still Germany? I hope they have not setup a factory in China.

They will be made in Germany. They have been talking about these scopes for almost three years now. Only person here that has seen a prototype was koshkin at the SHOT show back in the beginning of the year.

If I remember correctly, when Leica got out of the scope business six or seven years ago, they were assembled by Leupold using Leica branded glass.  Does anyone know if my memory is correct?  Will Leica have a similiar arrangement this time or will they be in total control of the manufacturing process for this go around?  In other words, are they going to be assembled by Leica in their own plant in Germany?

Yes, the previous Leica scopes (they were called "Ultravid") were assembled by Leupold using Leica optics.  I have one of those scopes.  The new scopes will be manufactured entirely by Leica in Germany, though Leica buys its glass from outside suppliers as most optics manufacturers do.

340Wby, you are unlikely to get an answer to your question, since very few people have actually seen the new Leica scopes, much less compared them to other alpha scopes.

All german scope and they look great, my problem is their asking price, at 2gs I will stay with my vms and schmidts. They make awsome bins but it is also well earned. They will IMO have to earn their asking price.

Bingo. I don't see anything special about these Leica scopes that Zeiss hasn't already perfected.

I have to admit, after buying my first Zeiss Conquest, a 2.5x8 32 mm, a factory demo at 311 bucks, compared to my other scopes of various price points, it is awesome.  That does not mean it beats all others hands down. but it is clearly superior in many categories and when considering the cost, realizing that it was a factory demo and the retail prices, Zeiss is a clear winner in my play book.  After reading many posts on this site, for just a few more bucks, or for even pricing, it seems to me, that it is hard to go wrong buying a Zeiss scope.  I am ecstactic with mine.

Just checking out the specs, I would't call Ziess's 3.5" eye relief "perfection" compaired to Leica's 3.9" through out the entre power range.  NV Hunter
