Well tax refund time only comes but once a year-kinda like christmas for kids,  it's time for a new scope. I have been eyeballing the Zeiss Conquest  6.5-20x50 w/side focus and mildot reticle, and the  Leupold MK4 LR/T 6.5-20 w/M1 target turrets and mildot reticle. I guess the question is for the extra $180 the Leupold costs are you just buying customer service, or is there a real tangible difference between the two? I know many consider the Conquest not to be  a "real" Zeiss since it's put together in the US. The difference in tube size doesn't matter since I'll probably never take a shot at anyhting over 500 yds. I just want a nice target/varmit scope to put on top of my Rem700 5r. I know I probably could get something just as good, or close to it, for less money than these two choices, but when it comes down to it and laying out close to 1k, these two are really the only two options for me based on reputation, and quality. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advace.

I would say to go with the Conquest, I think they are a better scope than the Leupolds.  You are also getting close in price to the Swarovski 6-18x50 AV!

I doubt there's anybody here with experience with those two scopes but I don't think you'd go wrong with either.  If you like Leupold (and you should  ), don't worry about the extra money.  Like you say, it's Christmas!
