The z6 falls into this category and it appears to sacrifice nothing except maybe cost. The whole package weight/size/eye relief/optics/durability/adjustments is top-shelf.
Ran mine through it's first deer season, 2.5 weeks of hard hunting/different situations/ terrain, etc., and it performed flawlessly. Edited by mike650 - December/17/2007 at 19:02 |

Thanks for sharing your perspective, Fellas. That's also the first time I've heard any sort of an explanation for the tunnel effect of my IOR 2.5-10x Tactical, when it's set below about 5x. Edited by RONK - December/17/2007 at 18:49 |

Note that the Bushnell "Zoom Factor" is actually 6.5x rather than the 6x that the Swarovski Z6 line offers.
All three of these new scopes will have 30mm tubes and be slightly heavier than 16oz.
Release date will be right after Shot Show like most innovative products related to guns.
Pricing will be very competitive like ALL Bushnell products.
For someone that was wondering whether or not Bushnell was going to "all side focus scopes" for their AO type scopes... the answer is yes. All their NEW offerings released this year already have side focus. Check out the 4200's here on SWFA.
All of these new scopes will also have 4" plus eye relief as have their other new offerings released this year.
A perfect example of Bushnell's latest scope line is the 42624P seen here....
Note the 4.6" constant eye relief, the short length, the relatively light weight, the side focus that is actually marked for distance, the 25yds-infinity parallex adjustment range, and the wide field of view compared to other scopes in this magnification range.
I have THREE of these scopes and they're exceptional.
I submit that Bushnell is seriously challenging other scope manufacturers to step up and provide all the new features we're seeing lately and at a quite low price point. Since their recent buyout they've started releasing some great products at some great prices and are breathing down the necks of the European scope manufacturers.
I have absolutely no affiliation with Bushnell other than as a satisfied customer. The information here came from communications with Bushnell Technical Staff.

Well they sound pretty good, seem to be following nikon on the better constant eye relief and side focus. Heavier reticle would sure be nice.

Does anyone know what reticles will be available with these scopes ?
I hope they include a range finding reticle other than mil-dot; I think this would also be a big seller in the future if they can get it right.

Not to be a detractor of a good idea and being labeled a cynic, but I think I will stick with the more traditional 3x9 or similar styles of scopes and choose specifics scopes for the job. The 6.5 erector scopes on some rifles maybe fine, but on others will be too heavy and on others will have excess magnification and limited FOV and may not stand up to the recoil of those rifles requiring those requirements.

I just like the fact that they are going to have better eye relief and be more compact.
I have an older 6x24 bausch & lomb. I think if I ran out of bullets hunting I could use it as a weapon. It is huge.... great scope but a bit too long. Now if they redesign the 4x16 with side focus and make it more compact like the newer 6x24 that would be really nice. I also hope for a regular duplex recticle I really don't need to pay extra for a mil dot that I don't need.

The 4-16 also get's a new facelift according to Bushnell. It will have a side focus and longer eye relief.
I didn't think to ask about the reticle but all their other scopes that were "redesigned" have both duplex and mil-dot reticles.

They look nice cosmetically. Fast focus ocular is nice as is the side focus parallax. The side parallax adjustment for the 2.5-16's is 10 yards to infinity and 25 yards to infinity on the 4.5-30. They also boast 80-100 MOA of elevation adjustment.

I hope we can still get top drawer glass without having to get 6x zoom and side focus. Say 1.5-5 and 3-9. Edited by tahqua - January/01/2008 at 13:14 |
