I am interested in the new 3-x40 Elite 4200. I heard that they have new Ballistic plex reticles and that the reticle is also laser etched and not a wire reticle. I noticed that SWFA has them listed for sale but with a standard plex reticle. Is this a misprint ? I have seen them listed for sale in a few other places but they all only have a Ballistic plex reticle. I have no need for the Ballistic plex reticle so I need to know if they actually offer it in the standard duplex as SWFA states. If so is it also laser etched or is it just a standard wire reticle? Thanks.

I just purchased this scope from SWFA, and it does indeed have the standard plex reticle. |

Do you know if it has a lazer etched reticle or not? Did you just order the scope from SWFA or do you actually have the scope in hand?

I have it in hand, but don't know how to tell if it is laser etched. It does not say anywhere in the owners manual or on the box.

Thanks for the quick response, I will be ordering one from SWFA now that I am sure it has the standard duplex crosshair. Do you own any of the original 4200 models? If so, does this new model seem optically equal to the original series? thanks again.

The only thing I have to compare it to is a 20 year old Tasco 3-12x40, and as you would guess, the Bushnell wins hands down. Sorry I can't be of more help. |

Bushnell launched two new Elite 3-9x40's this year.
1. Elite 4200 3-9x40 with Standard Plex reticle.....$258.95 2. Elite 3200 3-9x40 with Ballistic Plex reticle.....$238.95
Bushnell mistakenly listed the 4200 on their price list as having the Ballistic reticle so you will see some dealers list it this way. You can not get the 4200 3-9x40 in a Ballistic Plex.
All Elite scopes use a wire reticle. |
