I'm looking to pick up a back up CCW gun. Peaking my interest is a Walther PPK or a Sig P232. Anybody have either or wish to comment? Thanks and MERRY CHRISTMAS to all.  Big Grin

I used to have the Sig p230 (pre-p232) and it was a real nice little pistola. I added Houge grips and Trijicon sights and it was good to go.

Here it is below

My current backup is a colt 1903, i'm pretty happy with it, thin, reliable, and easy to carry.

I had an older PPK  that had the tendency to bite your hand when fired,  they have fixed that on the new one's.  Always like the looks and feel of the Sigs. My CCW weapon now is the Walther PPS in 9mm.

My BUG for many years has been a Colt Agent in a pocket holster on the same side as my main roscoe. A Smith Centennial type would serve just as well.

I played with a Sig 232, but went the P238 since it was a little smaller. But I did like the 232.

Both are rather nice guns, but a little heavy. I know you didn't ask, but I recently picked up a Ruger LCP for my back-up. Best move I made. Very light, and so far not one hiccup with a variety of ammo. Keep it loaded with Hornady Critical Defense rounds.

I dont see much point in carrying something I would not be comfortable with in a gunfight.  I carry a Glock  40 S&W or a   45acp or at the very least a .357 Smith and Wesson J frame 5 shot revolver.   I suggest you consider a Glock 23 they are fairly portable and will actually stop someone so long as you use the 155 gr Silvertip ammo.  The Ruger 9mm LC9 is a 9mm in the same size and I believe Sig Sauer makes a mini 9mm.  Taurus also makes some relatively small 40's and 9s but my money is on GLOCK we have beat hell  out of our duty Glocks and they are still working fine after  10 yrs police duty use.   Look at the balistics paying attention to the energy of the different handgun cartridges.

Thanks for the comments. I decided to pick up the Sig P232  (I did check out the Walther PPK too). The Sig is superb and feels great in hand (which is very important to me). My two primaries are a Commander sized 1911 .45 ACP and a Ruger SP 101. The Ruger is quite nice since I put a Trausch grip and XS Big Dot on it. It's no burden to tote at all. Merry Christmas to me! LOL.Big Grin
