Ok folks I have a dilemma. I am looking at some new binos for hunting, treestands, clearcuts and foodplots. My current set up is an 8x56 nighthunter xp very good low light performer. I am currently considering:
Bushnell Elite 10x43
Minox HG 10x43
Zen ED2 10x43
Vortex Razor 10x42
Kahles 10x42
SLC 10x42
I am not giving up the larger Steiners, just wanting an easier  to tote 10x bino with excellant glass and low light performance in the won't break the bank range.
Thanks

You listed the Swar. SLC. 10x42, I would think that would be the best and most expensive choice of the optics you list.

I had 10x50 Nighthunter, and I too liked them, they have named them well, excellent
for low light.

The image quality is pretty similar.  The Minox is a little smaller.  The ergonomics of each are completely different.  The ZEN blows the Minox away in having a wider fov, especially at 8x.  You don't have a bad choice on your list.  That list will have supporters for each one.  The thing is, you NEVER know which set of human eyes will like which binocular.

It is my personal opinion that there is no better deal for the dollar than the ZEN ED.

No losers in this group, it boils down to personal preferance and price.

I think the Zen ED2 and Vortex Razor provide the "most bang for the buck" in this list.  I would also include the Minox HG, but it has a much narrower field of view than the ED2 and Razor.

There isn't a bad choice on the list.  I own the Kahles 10X42, and while it's a good binocular with great ergonomics and a very smooth focuser, I don't think it compares optically to the ED2 and Razor.  It has quite a bit of chromatic aberration (a distinct yellow fringe at the edge of high contrast objects), whereas CA is almost completely absent in the ED2 and Razor image.

Thanks, I have narrowed it down by researching alot of threads and opinions. For the money I think I will definately give the zen ed2 a spin around the block.
