Impressive performance.  I would say it will knock an animal down.  I have shot a couple dead trees with different rifles to see what happens, but have never seen one like that!

The list of problems caused by a moment of idiocy mounts... that tree fell across the fork of another tree which is now being slowly uprooted. The Stihl would do me no good because it is too dangerous to get in and try to cut either tree down... cut one the other falls on you. Catch-22. If I just let it fall, it will fall on my chinup bar which is cemented in.
As a matter of fact, I should not be trusted with a chainsaw... might do something stupid. I have POSSIBLY learned my lesson on potential destruction with a .458. That was an expensive round to fire, no matter how this turns out.

Go get the Lott ---   Aim Lower bring more ammo.  Now that you have started this you must give the tree a fininshing shot or 10.  Which reminds me of going down to the farm to get one of my ladder stands recently.  The Tree GREW and the seat and platform was two inches above the third section of the ladder. I climbed up and took loose all but one of the tie down straps then once back on the ground shot it with my glock untll I cut the tie down strap.  Had I only known to take my .375 H&H I would have been done much sooner as I can see by your example. Chainsaw

I suspect you will need a cable or chain or rope and need to take off the upper limbs while using a vehicle to hold pressure on the cable. A long cable like a winch cable would be best.

I actually have a Husqvarna with a 28" bar. Should have thought of using it FIRST, eh???
Actually, I envisioned a small entry, big exit...never envisioned knocking down the tree. However, we have had a dry year and they are more fragile than in "normal" years, asked a few "old timers" around here.
Pyro and UIF, glad you guys aren't piling on, you could have REALLY made me feel foolish.

dude i think its awesome that you could shoot a  tree and basically take it down, i shot  a pine with my 300 win and it went halfway through and thats it, i did take an oak down 6yrs ago with my old 300wsm after it went through a doe at about 40 yds, but this is a big damn tree that you shot.
