Hello guys, Im back.  Smile

I ended up getting the Swaro z5  3.5-18x44 (1") Its going on a Sako 7mm rm.

I need help on picking a brand of rings. It comes with bases attacted (I will post pics) but Im not sure if I should get new ones.?..

When I was asking on scopes, a few people mentioned a few brands. Badger, la rue, talley, tps, seekings, near mfg, warne.  I would like to spend under $200. I dont think I want 30mm with reducers. I probably wont be swapping scopes, so the quick detach isnt really that important, but Im not against it as long as the integrity/duribility/craftmanship is there.

I just need some Ideas, (style) I will call the mfg with my set up to get the correct heights.

Thanks

I would use these. But then again I use these on almost everything.

Contrary to what some believe these are not 30mm rings with reducers either. If you are not familiar with these check out the video at

The Warne quick detach would be a good choice.  They are very strong and just a good all around quality ring.

I'd go with the Burris signature zee's or Talley's.

I have a question, what makes rings/bases tactical? I would guess, quick detach? How are they different from standard type? i.e Talley tactical from the other talleys mentioned?

When you guys mention Talley, are you talking about their one piece?

(going to google NF/ti)

Is one piece a better mounting system?

How would you know, without shooting, if you need a base that has a 20moa taper? So basically it tapers down towards the muzzle of the bbl giving you that much more elevation adj. in your recticle?

Take your pick I prefer to stay at the high end or at least middle of the road but I have some Warne rings on rifles and they have done fine - would I rather have Talley --  Hell Yes.

Forget about plus 20 moa bases you have a hunting rifle and a hunting scope set it up and enjoy it.   You dont need plus 20 moa bases.

Thanks for the links Ur just what I needed to hear.

One of the moderators on here really pushes talley one piece, I looked in swfa and didnt see them?

*Question- Should I change the bases that came on my rifle?

(mounting system is more confusing to me then scope choices) No Clue

Ur gives good info listen to him.The way I set my rifles up is as follows A heavy recoil I stay with steel, usually Badger, with a med. recoil I go with the combo metal ring like Night Force & for the light recoil I prefer the Talley's.

What makes rings & mounts tactical? I'd say the person using them on a rail type of set up usualy Picatinny. This seems to be a personal preference if your not military or law enforcement. This is just my own 2 cents opion.I'm sure more will chime in to answer this question.

Stick that makes sense.

What would you consider a 7mm?

I have been reading great stuff about the talley one piece for hunting. (I was getting two differnt mounting sets confused... between the talley encore/omega, which is all one piece, and the other 1 piece that is actually two seperate pieces with the ring and base joined)

Lets focus on a base. Should I take the factory one off? Is there a benefit with buying a base and ring made from the same mfg? (like a better fit/mate, or maybe somekind of notch the ring sits in tounge/grove?) or is it just weaver type system is universial so tolarances are standard?
