Hey guys just bout a savage model 12 varminter.  Im looking at a nikon 5-20x44 monarch for it.  I have picked out these bases and rings: Weaver Grand Slam Steel Dovetail Rings Medium and Weaver Grand Slam Steel Dovetail 2 Piece Base.  Will this work on my rifle?  Is this the best setup?  I want all you guys input, and thanks in advance!!!

Hi, Matt!
Yes, those bases and rings will work.  Most "medium" height rings will work with a 44mm objective, and you have plenty of tube length on your scope to work with.

Basically, the Weaver Grand Slam series bases and Rings are the same as other "turn-in dovetail" & rear windage screw bases and rings from Leupold, Burris, etc.  They will work fine on your setup.  I'm personally not a big fan of the rear windage screw attachment system, though the front dovetail attachment is solid.  If you are going with the "turn-in" style rings, I personally prefer the dual dovetail/ double dovetail style available from both Leupold and Burris.  But again, the rings you have selected are plenty solid enough for the task at hand.
