Fellas,

I am mounting a scope for a guy I work with and need a little help choosing rings.

Rifle is a long action Browning A-Bolt. Will use Leupold standard base with 30mm rings.

What height would you suggest? The scope is a 4-16x50 Nikko Sterling ( I know - I didn't recommend it )

with a 30mm tube. He wants the scope to be close to the barrel. Would mediums be about right - or would low get the job done without having to shim. Or, am I wishful thinking and going to have to go high?

I see that, but I was going to order the stuff from SWFA, and I don't see the specs on the rings and bases. My internet is running extremely slow for some reason all week, I didn't want to have to go to multiple sites trying to get specs.

I just thought somebody might know from experience. I used to be able to "eyeball" things to know what I needed, but my age is now beginning to catch up with me.

I'm sorry I didn't help, Derek. I don't use that Leupold system and wasn't sure if they should be med or highs.
That set up on "tactical" style rings on a rail, I would suggest mediums.

I would call SWFA when they open today. I'm sure they will have something they can use to check and see what you need.
