Cool stuff to upgrade an Encore with -

I upgraded to one of thier hammer springs and a 1x hinge pin, and both my Encores groups improved big time.
Scope wise--can't go wrong with  4200 ..

pyro hit it on the head. You might even consider looking at the 4200 in the 6x24 also. Exceptional scopes for the money, IMHO

I deer hunted with a 6.5-20 on a .300 Wby and think a scope like this too much. I think getting closer to 3x or 4x is better on the bottom end should the game show up in close.  16x is way more than enough for a shot on big game at any reasonable range.

i would get the illuminated 50mm elite 4200 - that would improve twilight target acquisition.

you simply can't go wrong w/ the elite 4200's. 10x is plenty for 500 yrds if you are a decent shot and your rifle is accurate. my 2 cents.

With the 50mm objectives I am partial to the 30mm tube. I think they look more balanced and the tube is definitely stronger than a 1".
The scope that Jon mentioned is really nice for the money. The illuminated dot is very easy to acquire and is nice in low light. Another nice thing about the illuminated Elite is that the battery location doesn't look like an after thought add on. It looks like another turret and adds to a balanced look.

i have hunted w/ this very scope many times in deep woods and it is really really good.

for under 500 bucks, it's amazing. And Tahqua is dead on about the 30mm tube looking more balanced.
