I have a Remington 700 CDL SF .30-06.
I am needing advice on what scope to put on it that will hold up to it. I have looked at Tasco's, Simmons, Barska, Bushnell, Nikon ect... the Simmons and Barska's have a few that have caught my eye. anyhow just want something that will not drain me dry BUT give me the best value and performance for the money, havelooked at the Muller's as well they have on thats their top of the like but it is heavy and also a 60mm opinions suggestions ect... would be appreciated.
Thanks all....

Pretty much the best bang for the buck you can buy is the Bushnell 4200 3-9x40. http://www.swfa.com/pc-7280-185-bushnell-3-9x40-elite-4200-rifle-scope.aspx
Stay away from Barska and Simmons and Tasco, they are all junk. If the 4200 is out of your budget then the Bushnell Legend 3-9x40 is a good scope for the money as well. http://www.swfa.com/pc-2172-200-bushnell-3-9x40-legend-rifle-scope.aspx |

I'm say this a lot for some reason... A good single peice of camera grade glass filter, that is a single piece of coated glass and threaded ring, can cost more than some of the scopes these people sell. You are not even close to getting what you are paying for with some of those scopes! There is not a whole lot of stuff under 150 bucks that is worth taking home.

I have a 700 CDL SF myself and am also considering different optics for it. I agree with supertool173, the 4200 is a great bang for your buck and can be had in stainless which will look very good on your rifle.

Why not get the Weaver V9....It's a good scope and won't break the bank......way better than what you have mentioned up above--- until you start hitting the $200 mark....

Stay away from the BSA`s, Tascos, the Barfska`s ...and put a decent scope on the `06 so that you won`t need to upgrade later, which in turn, WILL cost you even more to do so.
Your rifle is as only as good as the scope you have on it. Go too cheap and maybe you`ll have broken reticles from recoil, maybe some fogging issues, problems with clarity and so on!
There are good scopes out there beginning at around $150-$200. Also, check out the "sample list"........I did see a 2x7 Nikon Monarch there for $189, which for that scope is a great deal. That is also a good hunting variable for an `06.

..........yes, I had a 2x7 Monarch it was a neat scope.....needs extended bases, however, too short for an 06 length action.......
