I have a Savage Scout and need about 10 - 12 inches eye relief. Anyone have a setup they can comment on? Shooting out to 100 yards.

There are several dedicated scout scopes from Leupold, Burris, HiLux, etc.

It just comes down to the magnificayion you want and budget:

Personally, I prefer small fixed power scopes on scout guns, so I like the 2.75x20 Burris and 2.5x28 Leupold.  However, YMMV.

Is it worth getting a scope for a handgun?

It really comes down to the pistol, the application, and personal preference. Without giving at least the pistol and application, options and opinions can't really be discussed. budget would also be good info.

I mounted a scope on my Marlin Guide gun in 45-70.  It was a Leupold 4X if I remember correctly and worked well.  I was hunting from tree stands, so there wasn't a lot of snap shooting.

I never had much luck with variable power scout scopes.  It works well at one magnification range, but not so much at the others.  I have a Burris 2-7X that was very good at 2X when shots were fast but the FOV and eye box were challenging at 7X.

If I were to do it again, I would probably go with a red dot.  Might look a little strange, but effective for shots a scout rifle is designed for.

For handguns, Brenda, I have a 4x leupold on my .41 Rem Mag blackhawk hunter, and I love it.  Very accurate to 100yds (within 6 in).  I have a burris FFII on my Ruger Mk II .22, and love it also.  I have a SWFA SS 3-9x42 on my 7mmWSM Specialty handgun, and love it for the application.  That is why Steelbenz posted what he did.  I also have a Ruger SP101 with no scope, along with 1911s, glocks, and Sigs with no optics.  Just depends on the caliber/handgun/application.

The two fixed power scopes Koshkin mentioned would be ideal for scout scopes.  I have also used an Aimpoint 9000L  red dot on both scout rifles and handguns with good success. My only surviving Burris scope is a fixed power scout scope and it has been on several things including a 45-70 Encore pistol which now has this Nikon.

Depends on your application.
For me, definitely yes!
I use scopes on hunting semi-autos, revolvers and single shot specialty pistols
