I found an interesting spotting scope at an estate sale this week, it looks like it is relatively high quality, perfect condition and is definitely old.  I have found NO info on the internet about this scope.  It is marked "ATLAS COATED Spotting Scope 15x20x30x40x   60mm NO.10170"   on the front screw in lense cover it says K.O.C. and JAPAN.   a little about the scope's appearance....  It is a dark grey wrinkle finish, and has a turret that swivels out when you push a small round head stainless steel button on top and is approx. 14" long, after removing the lense cap it is possible to extend the front of the scope tube I suppose to cut down glare while viewing.  It mounts to a tripod of the same color with elastic and leather straps that wrap around the body of the scope to secure it to the cradle mounted to the tripod.   The scope came with directions for use on a single page written in bad english which makes me think it is relatively early.  The scope came in a birchwood box with chrome corner protectors, and what looks like an imitation ivory handle with chrome hardware and clasps on the box.  The cradles inside the box are padded with green felt.  Also the directions on the paperwork that came with the scope reads: "ATLAS Turret Spotting Scope 45 degree offset type"

Any help would be great!

I'm guessing here, but the "K.O.C." probably stands for "Kowa Optimed Co," in Japan, which, if accurate, would mean that Kowa manufactured the scope, which is a good thing.  Kowa did use a grey wrinkle finish on some of their older scopes.  You might contact Kowa USA in Torrance, CA and ask them if they know any history on that scope.  http://www.kowa-usa.com/frontend/contact.asp
