I just purchased an AR15 in 6.5 Grendel caliber (20" bbl) and am looking for some advise as to what scope to mount on this rifle. I will mainly be hunting with this rifle and would not expect my shots to be over 250 yd.s ,I would like it to be capable of shooting tight groups when at the range, considering the rifle and I are doing our part. Would like it to be in the 4-12 X 40 range as far as variable settings go and in the price range of $425.00 or less. I am trying to get the best quality for my buck in this price range. I have looked at Bushnell which I have a 4200 Elite, 3-9x40 and a 3200 Elite, 4-12X40 and like them both, also Vortex, Burris, Nikon, Sightron, etc, etc, but there are just too many choices out there and the more I read the more confused I get.

Any help/advise will be greatly appreciated.

I looked at a couple of sites including SWFA and Zeiss 3-9x40 appear to be a little higher than I was hoping at $499.00. Thanx anyway.

First...Welcome to the OT.

Second, great questions. Your right there are several options available in the magnification range that you would like to have. It can be overwhelming.

For hunting I would look into look into something that offered bullet drop compensation reticle. Simply because you may not have the opportunity to dial in, if the shot presents itself.  Having a BDC will allow you to place the shot quickly.

Have your seen the Redfield Revolution Accurange? There is a kit with this and it comes with a mount for your AR.

First I want to thank everyone for the responses, I appreciate them very much and will research each one that falls within the parameters and price range I am looking for in a scope.

Second I want to apologize for any comment I made in a prior post, I did not intentionally mean to break any rules on this forum and will remember this in future post.
I have referred to this forum for quite a while now and have always found it to be quite educational.
Thank you for your patience.

Wasn't you that did anything wrong, just keep in mind SWFA does have a 110% price match so the conquest can be had from them for that price.

Welcome and enjoy your stay.

Welcome to the OT Forum!

Wow, I know exactly what you are going through. I've got an AA 6.5 Grendel heading my way soon. I've been scouring the scope specs with full attention. So far, the Zeiss Conquest with the Rapid Z 600, the Sightron BS with the HHR and possibly the Vortex look good. Heck, I'm so crazy I've even considered the Nightforce NXS 2.5-10 x 32 with the LV reticle. I may even get brave and mount up an older Swaro AV 3-10 X 42 with a TDS reticle. Who knows. Keep us posted on your choice and how well it performs. Good luck Sir! Cool

As they say "no harm no foul".
Also Thanks for the warm welcomes.
On with the business at hand, while I like the Zeiss and can't figure how to get it in my price range with the price guarantee, I have been comparing the spec.s between the Loopy VX-2, 4-12 and the Vortex, Viper 4-12, same price, I like the fact that the Loopy is 5 oz lighter and 2.1 inches shorter, I do like the Dead Hold reticle on the Vortex. The gun is already 9lb.s and the weight of the Loopy sounds inviting.
Skylar that is also a great deal on the Redfield, since I have a little more money in my budget I would like to purchase a scope that gives me just a little bit more quality for the little bit of extra cash in the kitty, if thats possible, maybe I'm better off just getting the Redfield and saving the money, unfortunately I already have the PEPR mount, I don't know if Redfield is in the same class as the Loopy and the Vortex, I just assume it isn't since it's less in price. It is the same length as the Loopy and only 1.5 oz.s heavier.

Any other suggestions/recommendations ?
