I want to mount leupold VXL on a Winn model 70 featherweight it a 270 wsm, so I assume its a short action.  The guy where I bought the rifle sold me a set of leupold STD bases with the rear wind ajuster.  I don't like it because it is to long and stands over the ejecting area a little.  Is there a set out there that will fit the 70 featherweight and not block any of the ejecting area?  Like the dual dove blocks they look short enough not to interfear with anything.  What height on the rings, is the right size for the leu 4.5 x14x50?  I'm guessing the med height, because of the scope sittting lower.

Thanks,  I need some sound advise here I don't wanna goof again, Lonzo

Lonzo, I totally understand your gripe about the rear base projecting over the ejection port.  Although that doesn't hamper function in any way, I just don't like the way it looks.  Some of the mounts that do not extend over the ejection port include Talley, Warne, Conetrol, and S&K.

What do you want to know about the Warne bases and rings?  They are a vertically split design, like Talley, and unlike most of the other rings available which are usually horizontally split designs.  Their standard "Maxima" series rings attach to standard "Weaver style" bases, but they also have designs that attach directly to some grooved receivers and special designs such as Sako and Ruger.  They are well made, nice-looking rings.  You can't hardly go wrong by choosing their products.
