It will help get you on paper, maybe. The only true way to get it sighted in its at the range though. But the further out you go, the more likely it will be close at the range.
If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

Pull the bolt, if a bolt action rifle.
Position  the center of your barrel on the target as best you can by eye and click the red dot into place.
Shoot it true..

You can even do this "hillbilly" bore sight with an AR. Take the upper off, pull the BCG out and peep down the barrel.

let me ask a question, did the laser system come with instructions?  What kind is it? does it have does it have a accepts plastic shrouds to fit in the chamber or does it have rubber O rings and slide into the barrel? either way, set as target at 25 yards, set rifle on sand bags turn the laser on and point to center of the target then adjust the red dot to put the laser dot  in the center of the red dot on the target. you should now be roughly bore sighted. then fire a round and adjust. removing the laser first, that might tend to ruin your day if not.

On most rifles with a 100 yard zero the bullet first passes through your line of sight somewhere between 17 to 25 yards (Scope height, and bullet speed can cause the first line of sight intersection to change from one rifle to the next), then again when it impacts the target at 100 yards.  I'd set a target up at 25 yards and shine that laser bore sighter on it, anchor your rifle so it won't move, then using the windage and elevation adjustments on your red dot, move the dot until it is covering the laser dot.
