Looking at a GREAT price for a Black Diamond fine plex reticle, 6-24x50, with the side focus and 30mm tube.  About $200 less than what they normally go for.

I was wanting to use it either on a .308 Tikka Varmint or a .223 Tikka Varmint rifle for long range (1000 yards) shooting.

My only concern is the MOA adjustments - will it give me enough to reach out that far with bullet drop?  I had heard it was only 52MOA, but is that one-way, or total overall?  I know the Super Sniper 10x is listed with 120 MOA adjustment, so I am a bit confused.

Is the Black Diamond a very nice scope for the money, esp. in regards to optical clarity?

Thanks!

That is a total of 52 moa.... 26 up and 26 down. Thats actually a lot with a scope that has 1/8 moa adjustments. You wouldn't be able to get out to 1000 yards with either caliber, and this scope. In a 30mm tube you would need at least 1/4 moa at that range. The 10X Super Sniper actually has a total of 152 moa..... 76 up and 76 down. Plenty to get out to 1000 yards. The Black Diamond is a very nice scope optically.

Decided against the BD - now waiting on the Super Sniper variable - hopefully the optical quality will be almost as good or as-good

Good choice, that model of Black Diamond that you were looking at would not be a very good choice for 1000 yard shooting. I too am waiting to see how good the Super Sniper variables will be. I may have to get a couple of them.
