Looking at a GREAT price for a Black Diamond fine plex reticle, 6-24x50, with the side focus and 30mm tube.  About $200 less than what they normally go for.

I was wanting to use it either on a .308 Tikka Varmint or a .223 Tikka Varmint rifle for long range (1000 yards) shooting.

My only concern is the MOA adjustments - will it give me enough to reach out that far with bullet drop?  I had heard it was only 52MOA, but is that one-way, or total overall?  I know the Super Sniper 10x is listed with 120 MOA adjustment, so I am a bit confused.

Is the Black Diamond a very nice scope for the money, esp. in regards to optical clarity?

Thanks!

52MOA overall.

To reach way out there you'll have to use either 20MOA base or Burris Signature rings with offset inserts.  Also, Ballistic MilDot available on that scope helps with holdover.  You can set it up the way some russian sniper scopes were used:

They used turret adjustments to get out to 800 meters and then calibrated the aiming chevrons to work at 900, 1000 and 1100 meters.

Super Sniper is a spectacular scope, but if you are trying to hit a something smaller than a man size target at 1000yards you might appreciate additional magnification.  I have a 6.5-20x50 Fullfield II on my varmint gun, but I very seldom use magnification above 15x or so.

Black Diamond is an awesome scope though if you can get for $200 less than they normally go you might as well buy it and if you choose to go with something else sell it later.

Just found it is isn't the side focus model - hell, I think I may just wait for the 4.5-18x Super Sniper variable to come out.
