Hi,  Newbie to the forum here looking for some advise.  I am an avid hand gunner revisiting my old long gun interests.  I just ordered a Savage Mark II BV in .22LR.  I am looking to put some glass on it.  The intended usage of this gun will be for target shooting at maximum distances of 200 yards. I am not a hunter,  so this gun will never see the field. I have a real problem with putting a high dollar scope on a $300.00 .22,  although I understand the physics of good glass.   Ideally what I am looking for is a maximum expenditure of about $200.00.  A decent scope with AO, I would assume 3-9x40 or so.   I am open to suggestions.

SWFA sells a BSA Sweet 22 6-18x40 that works well for me. I've done some 'coke can' shooting out to 100yds, killed a couple of foxes at 50-70yds trying to eat my cats, shot crows at about 50yds. Optics are just OK, but not a bad scope for a .22, not a bad price, everything works. Lots of people don't like BSA, and I must say I am not a big fan, but this scope works for me. I rotate between it and a red dot. The BDC on the Sweet 22 works well.

Hummm foxes were eating your cats ??? I had 3 stray cats that only lived outside that I adopted and were here every day and just disappeared . Looks like I'll be fox hunting .... the neighbor said they're killing all his poultry .... never imagined they may have ate my cats ! Now I'm p*ssed .... those cats kept all the mice away  Really%20Sad

They were TRYING...I shot one about 10 feet away from one of the cats, sneaking up on it. The other fox had just started hanging around close to the house so I took him out before he could get one of the cats. Cat is a favorite fox AND coyote food. Eat them every chance they get. The cats keep my barn almost mouse free. See one every now and then, but the mice don't last long. Oh, BTW, raccoons, if hungry, will eat cats as well. There is a horrible video on YouTube, if they haven't pulled it down, showing a couple of raccoons tearing a cat apart. I used to think coons were cute little creatures, not anymore.

Burris makes a 3-9x32 with AO. Their optics are pretty good for the money and my past experience with many Burris scopes is quite good. http://www.swfa.com/c-201-burris-rimfire-airgun-scopes.aspx
Weaver also makes a 3-9x32 with AO. It is a solid scope and is over $60 cheaper than the Burris. http://www.swfa.com/pc-2319-257-weaver-3-9x32-rv9-classic-rimfire-rifle-scope.aspx

NASTY looking teeth they have...
Coons don't come around my house anymore, but they have started hanging around the barn. I'm going to have to do some maneuvering to ensure I don't miss and hit the horses, but get the coons out of the horse feed.

Don't tell PETA, but I started laughing so hard when I read this at work, I fell out of my chair. I got a vision of a raccoon running up, holding onto the end of the barrel with it in his mouth and then someone pulling the trigger...tooo funny.

This is a real nice 200 dollar scope that you could move up to center fire if you wanted too.
Good glass and not a used scope so it has the full warranty
