Recieved a Tikka T3 Lite Stainless .308 for Christmas and need to put a scope on it.  Since it only weighs 6.3 lbs. I need to compromise between keeping it light and gathering light.  Be nice if it was stainless/silver as well.  I use Swarovski binocs and spotting scopes but don't want to spend much more than around $500 on this scope.  Any suggestions??

light gathering doesn't occur with scopes, the "brightness" (which is really the contrast) depends on the magnification one is selecting at the time. assuming you will be hunting and with this combo I'd go with a silver Leo in fixed 6X42 in your price range, and sense you got a good set of binoc you won't need the higher power of a variable.

Thanks for the input guys--two of you recommend the exact same scope with the price right on target!!!!!
My research on the Conquest confirms your advice so the only thing left is to spend some$$$$$.
Anybody ever do business with Durham Outdooor Supply?  They are the cheapest I found on the recommended scope.

Light "gathering" does not exist with any optical instrument. Light transmission is a different story though.

Alaska, you could try the 110% price match guarantee from SWFA, never used it yet but I would give it a shot before ordering elsewhere.

Alaska Guy,

You may want to call Beretta customer service, the stainless T3's have a recall going on.  (Mine is in range and Beretta has been on holiday shutdown ERRRR)

Not to sound like a broken record but the Zeiss Conquest is the way to go.  As someone said above contact SWFA staff they will usually match other busineses prices and they are very good to deal with.

Hello All,

I have bought from Dunham's Sports supply, and I can tell you that I think that you are better off going through SWFA, even if they don't match the price.  It was not a pleasant experience.  Enough said.
