Tough call.
I like the Zeiss, but in this case, that doesn't mean anything; I just know the 4.5-14x50 Conquest that I use, has very good glass.
Are there any features, pluses or minuses, cost, etc. to help you make up your mind.
Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

The Minox is usually the same price (within a $1) of the Meopta, but right now there is a rebate of $50 on the Minox.

The Conquest is $100 more than the Meopta.

I like the Meopta in this race.

Pretty much a toss-up IMO. I'd likely go with the Meopta myself.

I owned a Meopta for a day some time ago, loved the glass, but the eye relief was terrible, about 2.75 inches.  If you consider a Meopta, I'd check on the eye relief.

COnquest is a good scope.  I have never used Minox.

We have 2 Conquest 3-9s and love them Big Time!  One sits on a Rem 700 CDL .270 the other on a A-Bolt II 30-06.

Buy one and "Forget About It"
take em!

RC,

Was that a Meostar or Meopro?  The Meopros I have seen have had decent eye relief, it is one of the first things I look for.

as in, nikon, bushnell, and weaver claim to have lifetime, but it's only if they feel like it. and then theres leupold who, will warranty it, but it takes forever. then theres SWFA and vortex who are at the top of the food chain

Meopta's CS is good to go.  I haven't used Zeiss', but by most accounts it is pretty good.

My experience with Minox has been excellent! And I hear the same is true with Meopta.

I have a Tikka T3 7mm-08 with a Meopta Meopro 3-9x42 #4 reticle. My opinion is it ant be beat at it's price point and in some cases beyond.Carried it to deer camp last friday and smoked 2 deer with it.both were late evening shots and the last one was fire out the barrel dark.Eye relief is about 3.5 in.,which should be plenty for about anything. We compared back at camp to the Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 and all concluded the Meopta was brighter, plus the etched #4 reticle on these are fantastic;very bold and black and wont wash out.

If you can get the Zeiss at a discount then I'd look no further.

so i pulled the trigger on the zeiss.

but my buddy just bought the remmy sps in 308, and has $500 to put some glass on it. it's mainly for paper and groundhogs, out to 700 yards or so. so what would be the best choice for a variable as high of mag without sacrificing optical quality too much, and enough adjustment to get to 1k? i tried talking him into a 16 SS but no go, he want a variable.

i was thinking

hawke sidewinder 30 tac 6.5-20

vortex viper 30mm 6.5-20

Falcon menace 5.5-25(he has 2 and has had good luck with them, 10X & 3-18)

Sightron SII 6-24( but not sure it has enough adjustment)

any other ideas?

i know this is asking a lot

i told him to save up and the 5-20 SS

I think the Viper would do fine.  Put it on a 20 MOA base.
