A few years ago i was trying out cheap reflex/red dot sights.  I found one of the subject sights on sale for what seemed like a reasonable price...$30.00 I think... and thought I would try it out.

Long story short, for a LOOOONG time, I tried it on a number of different guns... could never get a zero.  I set it aside for the day I was shooting scopes as targets again.

Today, I thought I would turn it on, set it up at 100 yards and waste it with a .338 Lapua Magnum.  However, my curiosity got the best of me... I had to try to zero it ONE MORE TIME.  I put it on my S&W 22A-1 and went out to my backyard pistol range.  At 25 yards, I could not hit a 12x18 target, so I moved to 15 yards...still could not hit... moved to 3 yards and hit on the far left edge (12 inches from center) and 16" high.  There was not a lot of windage adjustment available so I adjusted as far right as it would go and 50 clicks down and moved back to 25 yards... no hit on target.... moved in to 15 and got a hit 8" left, 12 high.
At this point I just said... OK, I'm going to shoot the dang thing ANYWAY... I grabbed a BIG screwdriver body and inserted the torx head and turned as hard as I could... it "broke loose" and I turned what I guessed to be 20 more clicks right, adjusted the elevation down another guessed 40 clicks.  Next shot was 2 inches high and dead on the centerline.
I left it that way and tried it on my pistol range at 25 yards (all steel targets from 2" round to 14x14 square.  I scored hits with all rounds fired ( 2 10 round mags with 1 chambered... 21 rounds).
I strongly recommend against purchasing one of these reflex scopes by NcStar... greatly wish I had my money back... first of all, there is no tactile feel or audible "click" to an adjustment in elevation or azimuth (after I forced the windage).  Just turn the screws until your guess feels right.  In my case I hit a stopping point that I finally decided to push beyond... for me, it worked... not recommended.  Sometimes it will give a few "clicks", then just move... with really sensitive hands one can almost feel it moving through a click, but could be mind playing tricks.
So... I'm going to play with it until it fails... then I'll shoot it with the .458 Lott...
I'm pretty sure I paid $30.00 for it... total waste of money and the time I've spent trying to get it to work.  It sat for at least a couple of years with no use at all...  I tried to zero it on at least 1/2 dozen different caliber rifles and 3 pistols.
I moved out to 50 yards and hit all the targets I shot at for 11 rounds... the big steel, two 8" steel circles, 2 4x8 silhouettes.  When it quits working, I'll be happy to blast it to smithereens...
Let me state again... if you are looking for an inexpensive reflex sight, save your money and purchase something that has some reasonable, respectable reliability.  I've tried a number of "low cost" sights (low cost is relative... it is not low cost, no matter what it cost, if it doesn't work)... they all pretty much suck.

I've put a couple hundreds rounds downrange with this configuration, now.  The NcStar is actually performing.  I thought it would lose zero as "loose" as the adjustments are, but so far it is dead on up to 30 yards and "Kentucky adjustment" for 50 is "reasonable".  I am afraid to try to adjust it mechanically, that I could possibly just mess it up, but I have no complaints with current shooting performance.  I still would not purchase another, but it also might be that I just got a squirrelly one.  I've tested out some NcStar stuff in the past and can't say I've ever really been pleased with it, but with low budget and low expectations it might be passable.  If I start getting wild misses, of course my opinion will change, but for now it is "on target".

So far, out of 290 rounds (using a mix of CCI, Aquila and Remington ammo), I've failed to hit the target once between 7 - 30 yards with this "reflux sight".  The drift I expected has, so far, not appeared.  I'm not really impressed with it, but I am amazed by it.  Now, that does not mean I've hit exactly where I intended, just hit the target.  MOST LIKELY NOT THE FAULT OF THE SIGHT... I've been on the move, varying range on the move, rapid fire, down and up hills.  Danged thing has done it's job for sure.
